I (Kurt Davis) am an entrepreneur, business development expert, and social impact worker. In 2017, I traveled Africa and volunteered at many emerging business accelerators. There, I saw the entrepreneurship gives people hope. At that time I started Kakuma Ventures to empower and finance local entrepreneurs in the Kakuma refugee camp and also worked to create the Southern Africa Venture Partnership in Malawi, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

I have spent my 20-year career between Silicon Valley and Asia (Japan, China, SE Asia) building and investing in tech companies. From 2009-2016, I was the first business hire at Boku a mobile payments company where I led global business development and also served as GM of Asia. During that time I closed over 100 deals including partnerships with Apple, Microsoft, Sony, Spotify, Tencent, and Softbank.

Previous to Boku, I worked in finance doing corporate venture capital at Mitsui and GE Hong Kong. From 2003-2005 I lived in Shanghai where I studied Chinese and started a mobile phone games company. I have lived abroad over 12 years including in Japan (twice), China, Singapore, London, and Africa. Originally from the South, I am a graduate of Davidson College and Duke Fuqua Business School.
